Technology Transfer for New Rice Varieties

(VEN) - The Hanoi University of Agriculture and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) recently signed an agreement on cooperation in technology transfer to develop new rice varieties in midlands and mountain areas in the north.
Genetically Modified Corn To Be Grown Widely

(VEN) - By 2011, Vietnam will begin growing genetically altered crops both in the north and south as part of a trial process to determine feasibility. In addition, information on animal feed safety and food safety of some genetically modified corn varieties will be collected. It is estimated that by late 2011 or early 2012, genetically modified corn will be available on the open market; with genetically modified food present in the market in the near future. According to experts, this will create a motive force for agricultural development.
